An all-levels practice at 6:45 in the morning, timed so the last three poses land as the sun clears the water. Free to attend, and we bring spare mats.
Three cities · One community
Eight thousand five hundred people, three cities.
Chicago, Charlotte and Denver. Thirty gatherings a month on lawns, in parks and in borrowed halls, and seventy-eight percent of them cost nothing.
Chicago · October 17, 2026
The Lakefront Wellness Festival returns.
A full day of movement, breath and food on Northerly Island, with twelve hundred people expected across the lawn.
We put free wellness gatherings in public places, and we train the people who lead them, so that a person can walk into a city knowing nobody and walk out three months later with somewhere to be on a Saturday.
A guided ninety-minute breathwork session indoors, ending with twenty minutes of stillness and a cup of tea with the people next to you.

What we do
Free classes, trained instructors, published numbers.
We put wellness gatherings in public places and certify the people who lead them. Every figure on this page is published for the same reason: if we will not print a number, we should not be running the programme.
4,200 in Chicago, 2,600 in Charlotte and 1,700 in Denver.
1,480
Gatherings held since 2019
From eleven people on one lawn to thirty gatherings every month.
78%
Of gatherings are free
Free first, always
Seventy-eight percent of our gatherings cost nothing to attend. The rest slide down to zero on request, without a form, a means test or a conversation about why.

The welcome is the work
I had tried three studios and left all of them feeling like the least fit person in the room. Nobody has ever made me feel that way on the lawn at Montrose.

How we teach
Public places, on purpose
We teach on lawns, in parks and in borrowed halls rather than behind a membership desk. A studio filters people out before they reach the door. A park does not.
46
Partner organizations
18 in Chicago, 16 in Charlotte and 12 in Denver.
1,690
Festival attendees in 2025
1,050 on Northerly Island and 640 at Camp North End.
The Strength Collective
Two hundred and thirty hours, and a teaching slot at the end of it.
Our certification programme trains instructors to hold a mixed-ability room outdoors, on uneven ground, without a microphone. Every graduate is offered a place on a live schedule in Chicago, Charlotte or Denver.
Where this started, on a lawn, with eleven people.
Chicago is our first and largest city. What began as a Saturday morning circle at Montrose Point in 2019 now runs fourteen gatherings a month across the North Side, Pilsen, Humboldt Park and the West Loop, and it stays free wherever we can make the numbers work.
Social Club
Four meetups a month, capped at sixteen people.
A run, a supper, something outdoors and something quiet. The calendar lands on the first of every month and you reply to the ones you want.
A host at every single one
A named person whose job is to notice you arriving on your own. They introduce you to two people before anything else starts.
No cost to join
Membership is free. Some meetups involve paying for your own dinner or a trail permit, and that is always stated on the listing before you sign up.
It travels between our cities
If you move from Chicago to Denver, or visit for a weekend, your membership comes with you. Tell the host and somebody will meet you at the door.
